KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested one of two local suspects involved in Wednesday's carjacking incident at Likas Plaza near here.

The 30-year-old unemployed was picked up at one of the shoplots at University Apartments near here at about 11am on Thursday.

Police managed to recover the stolen vehicle near a supermarket in Menggatal town.

City police chief Asst Comm Jauteh Dikun said the suspect tested positive for drugs and was an ex-convict.

"We are on the hunt for the second man, who is a 40-year-old unemployed," he said.

On Wednesday, a 23-year-old clerk was taken on a terror ride when two men shoved her into her new Myvi car just as she alighted from it at about 6am.

She managed to jump out of the vehicle near Alamesra, some six kilometers from where she was taken.

The victim sustained minor injuries and received outpatient treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

ACP Jauteh said police were also investigating whether the suspect was involved in another carjacking incident at the SRJK (c) Likas Chung Hwa school about 6am on Monday.
