KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang, or Tian Chua, lodged a police report on Thursday against a group for alleging that the Batu MP made insensitive remarks to the Muslim community.
In a post uploaded by Facebook group Anti-DAP club, a caption was edited next to a picture of Tian Chua that read: "The actions of the Chief Minister of Penang in increasing the price of water was a correct decision. Prior to this, the people committed a lot of wastage, especially on Fridays."
Tian Chua denied making the statement, believed to have been uploaded on Tuesday, and claimed he was the target of harassment due to the false attribution.
"I urge the police to take swift action as this post is not merely a threat against me, but also a threat against public unity and peace," he said after filing the report at the Sentul police station.
"This is a serious matter as it is a sensitive issue and may cause anger among the Muslim community," he added.
