KAJANG: The Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) was called in to prevent a fight from erupting between supporters from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat near the polling centre in Sungai Sekamat here.
The supporters began gathering near SK Seri Sekamat as early as 7am, with each party occupying each side of the road leading to the school.
They shouted slogans and sang songs to cheer their respective candidates.
But the carnival-like atmosphere was marred by several people, who started making provoking statements against their “rivals” and a heated argument ensued.
A few people became aggressive and tried crossing to the rival camp to start a fight but were pulled back by their comrades.
The FRU rushed-in to maintain peace and order around 10.30am.
