PETALING JAYA: Bomoh Ibrahim Zin is certainly capturing the imagination of app makers around the world.
Thanks to his ritual to locate the missing MH370 aircraft, there are now more than 40 apps dedicated to the self-declared Raja Bomoh Sedunia.
After his “magic carpet performance” at KLIA was publicised, one particular game, Bomoh: Rescue Run, developed by Triapps surpassed 100,000 downloads on Google Play Store.
Another game, Bomoh MH370, developed by Hyperactive Studios got more than 50,000 downloads in Google Play Store.
As of yesterday, Bomoh: Rescue Run has earned the maximum five-star rating from at least 3,161 users while Bomoh MH370 received a similar rating from 924 users.
In Bomoh: Rescue Run, users are required to rescue the 239 passengers and crew members to gain more points.
Local forum and online website, lowyat.net, has published a public service announcement (PSA) warning app users not to download the Bomoh applications as they are granting full access to the app developers. It allows app developers complete access to the phone.
“It may appear to be just like any other games available on Google Play Store but we urge everyone to think twice before downloading the app to your smartphone.
“The app requires specific permissions that allows it to access virtually every part of your device, including your precise location, camera, microphone, and even your accounts,” said the PSA.
The PSA said the all-round access required by the game raises suspicions.
