PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday discussed the search for Flight MH370 over the phone.
The Japanese Embassy said in a statement that Abe expressed his deep concern about the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft which could not be located despite the maximum search effort that had been conducted.
“Prime Minister Abe stated that he appreciates that Najib has been assuming the strong leadership in a difficult situation and expressed his willingness that Japan would further continue to support the effort made by Najib,” the embassy said.
Abe told Najib that Japan had conducted its search operation involving five aircraft and had moved two others to Australia in response to the request by the Malaysian Government.
The embassy said Najib was grateful with the helpful and worthy search operation carried out by Japan.
“Prime Minister Abe stated that he is willing to help as a friend of Najib and asked to inform him if any assistance is needed.”
