KAJANG : MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai urged Kajang voters to back Barisan Nasional in Sunday's by-election saying the coalition will not forsake the people unlike PKR.

He said PKR assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh, who resigned to force the by-election, had promised to stay in Kajang if he won the state seat in the 2013 general election.

"However, after eight months, he abandoned Kajang. He didn't even care.

"The Opposition does not care about the people and have fooled Kajang folks," he said during a concert-cum-community event organised among Indian voters in Sungai Jelok, Kajang on Friday night.

"Kajang voters supported PKR in the last general election but the Opposition did not appreciate your votes.

"If Barisan Nasional wins, we will appreciate your support and fulfil our duty as your elected representative," he told the crowd.

MCA vice-president Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun will be facing off with PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in the by-election this Sunday.

Earlier, Liow and his wife Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo showed off their skills at badminton when they played a mixed doubles game in an event to reach out to Kajang youths in Sungei Chua.

"We must have more activities to encourage youths to be active and healthy," he said.

At a dinner at Bukit Angkat, Liow urged the 2,500 strong audience to throw their support behind Chew for a brighter future for Kajang.
