A BUSINESSMAN in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, north India, faked his own kidnapping to collect a Rs500,000 (RM26,926) ransom after he could not pay for a loan for his mini-trucks, reported Malaysia Nanban.
Sumit Bairagi supposedly went missing on March 13, after which a police report was lodged. The next day, his father Arun told police that he had received a phone call from his son’s handphone informing him that the man had been kidnapped by communist guerilla groups.
