KUALA LUMPUR: Drama actress Hanez Suraya Abdul Aziz (pic) has sued her former aide for allegedly defaming her on the Internet.
The 29-year-old claimed that her former personal assistant Mohd Fairus Mohd Lazim had been spreading defamatory words by uploading tweets and photographs referring to her on Twitter and via Instagram.
In her statement of claim filed on Nov 1, Hanez Suraya, who acted in the Love You Mr. Arrogant drama aired on TV3, said Mohd Fairus, 29, started to work for her in July last year.
She claimed that she would take Mohd Fairus along with her on most of her work trips, whether locally or abroad, with all expenses paid by her.
Hanez Suraya who was also an Aura White product ambassador, said early in September 2013, she was told by the Aura White management that she would go to Hong Kong the following month and all costs would be borne by the company.
Hanez Suraya felt that it would be proper for her to bring her makeup artist compared to the defendant as the former service was very much needed.
She claimed that upon returning from Jakarta in September, the defendant began coming late for work and instigating her so that she would not become close to her friends.
Following that, she said, the defendant had bad mouthed her and uploaded her photographs on Twitter and Instagram.
She said on Oct 16, her lawyer wrote to Mohd Fairus seeking an open apology from him.
She claimed that on Oct 17, Mohd Fairus met her at midnight in Bukit Bintang here and voiced his wish to apologise and the defendant later uploaded his apology on Twitter and Instagram.
Hanez Suraya said the defendant had maliciously “retweeted” the libel on Oct 19 and 22. On both occasions he had apparently used different accounts.
The plaintiff is seeking an injunction to prevent the defendant from repeating the libel.
She is also seeking general, special and aggravated damages, costs and other reliefs.
