EC sets March 29 for Balingian by-election

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 13,366 voters in Balingian, Sarawak, will go to the polls to elect their new assemblyman on March 29 – six days after Selangor’s Kajang state seat by-election.

The Election Commission (EC) also set March 17 as the nomination day for the Balingian state seat after the incumbent, Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, gave up the seat on Feb 28 to become the Yang di-Pertua Negri of Sarawak, effectively giving candidates 12 days to campaign.
