KAJANG: The MCA is appealing to the voters here to give the party a chance to serve them.
Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the voters were wise and knew very well that the by-election was created by the PKR to resolve their infighting.
“This by-election should not have happened. Please give us a chance. Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun used to serve as an MP and deputy minister. She has an excellent service track record.
“She has proven that she has the ability to serve the people here,” he said after the launching of the Wanita Barisan Nasional by-election machinery by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Chew, who is also an MCA vice-president and former Women, Family and Community Development deputy minister, has been named by Barisan as its candidate.
Liow said if Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wins the by-election, it would only cause further crises in the Selangor state government.
The Opposition Leader and PKR adviser has been named by his party as the candidate in the March 23 by-election.
“Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is not resigning. It will cause more crises in the state government that is already riddled with problems if he is forced to quit later,” he said.
It has been said that Anwar would take over as Selangor menteri besar if he wins in Kajang.
March 11 is the nomination day for candidates and advanced voting will be on March 19.
