IPOH: An elderly man was found with his throat slit at his house in Taman Song Choon here on Tuesday.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said 70-year-old Chan Yan Choi was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen by his daughter at about 8am.

"The gate and door to the house were ajar.

"His daughter called out to him but did not get an answer," ACP Sum told reporters.

"She went in and was shocked to find her father's lifeless body," he said, adding that the victim was a retiree and only did part-time work.

ACP Sum said police did not find any murder weapons nearby or at the house.

"The house was not ransacked and there were no signs of struggle.

"The victim's wallet could not be found but some money in the house are not taken," he said, adding that the man was found only to be wearing a pair of short pants.

ACP Sum said police could not be certain whether the murder was committed by someone known to the victim.

"Initial investigations and information gathered from family members also did not show that he had any misunderstanding with any party," he said.

"The case has been classified as murder," he added.
