PETALING JAYA: A 20-month-old toddler has died while under the care of his nanny at Desa Setia Wira, Jalan Buku Lima, near Kampung Datuk Keramat here.
It is learnt that the nanny had been taking care of the child for three months.
The boy’s mother had sent him to the nanny’s house at about 7.45am on Friday before leaving for work.
However, at about 9.15am, the mother received a call from the nanny saying that the boy was very sick and looked bluish.
The mother then rushed to the nanny’s house to find the boy unconscious.
Although she immediately sent the boy to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment, doctors confirmed at 10.30am that the toddler had died.
The baby’s father later lodged a police report.
The boy was reportedly the only child to have been in the nanny’s care that day.
Confirming the report, acting City CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa said they had reasons to believe from the post-mortem results that there was criminal element involved in the death.
“We have not made any arrest so far,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The family had brought the boy’s remains back to Kuala Terengganu for burial.
