KUCHING: Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud chaired what is believed to be his last state Cabinet meeting at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

His car reached the state administration building at about 11.30am. Along with him in the car was his successor, Minister in the Chief Minister's Office and Special Functions Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

Earlier, Cabinet members were seen entering the building from 9.30am.

Reporters who had gathered at Wisma Bapa Malaysia as early as 9.30am were denied entry on the grounds of not having been invited to cover the meeting.

On Feb 12, Taib announced that he would resign as chief minister effective Feb 28 and would be replaced by Adenan who is Tanjung Datu assemblyman.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new Sarawak chief minister is scheduled for Feb 28. - Bernama
