KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional will go all out in the Kajang by-election, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Commenting on the choice of MCA vice-president Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun as the BN candidate, Najib, who is also Barisan chairman and Umno president, said: "We support her. We wish her well. We will try our best, we will be going as the underdog."

"BN will work hard to ensure the best possible outcome," he told reporters after chairing a meeting of Umno's Supreme Council at Menara Dato Onn here.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Barisan deputy chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that Chew had been picked as the candidate for the by-election.

Nomination will be on March 11 and polling on March 23.

The Selangor state seat fell vacant after the incumbent, Lee Chin Cheh from PKR, resigned suddenly on Jan 27. - Bernama
