KUALA PILAH: A row of 20 wooden shops were destroyed in a blaze at Air Mawang, Johol, about 5.40pm near here today. No casualties were reported however.

Five fire engines and 35 personnel rushed to the scene from Kuala Pilah, Tampin, Bahau, Telok Kemang and Alor Gajah (Melaka).

“We managed to control the fire at 6.19 pm. There were no casualties,” Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue, Operations Division, assistant director Shazlen Mohd Hanafiah told reporters at the scene.

“We believe the fire started in one of the shops and spread quickly due to the dry weather and strong winds. We have yet to estimate the losses,” he said. - Bernama
