PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Retailer-Chains Association (MRCA) has opened their new office in Sky Park One City at Subang Jaya here.
The opening of their new office was marked with a celebration yesterday attended by nearly 800 guests including senior management, MRCA members as well as 300 orphans.
Present to launch MRCA’s new office was Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Idris Jala.
Skypark One City is a lifestyle and commercial centre close to prime developed areas such as Subang Jaya, Puchong, Putra Heights, Bandar Sunway and Shah Alam.
MRCA president Datuk Nelson Kwok said, as MRCA has grown into a bigger organisation, it needed a bigger office to enhance its membership activities.
“From our humble beginnings in 1992 with just 20 members, we have grown into a very strong and reputable organisation. As there are now 250 members and with the numbers still increasing, we certainly require a bigger office space for holding numerous activities for members.
“I am sure with this suitable office, we have no problem organising more seminars with many more seats for our members,” he told reporters during the launch yesterday.
In conjunction with the new office launching, MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation also donated RM20,000 to several orphanages.
“We hope that through this effort we can raise awareness in our community of the existence of the less fortunate and marginalised. We should always count our blessings and give back to the community,” Kwok added.
During the event, guests were entertained with programmes including a cosplay, magic show, singing performance by children, as well as a movie-viewing.
Founded in 1992, MRCA acts as an avenue for retail businesses to network and exchange ideas, share resources and to promote the healthy expansion of the retail industry in Malaysia and abroad.
Its membership comprises over 250 market leaders and popular brands with more than 10,000 retail outlets nationwide.
