SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have detained at least 329 foreign women moonlighting as guest relations officers (GROs) and masseuses in an all-out war against vice activities.
Police raided more than 89 pubs and massage parlours in the state in the first weeks of the year.
“The women detained were from various countries, including Myanmar, Vietnam and the Philippines.
“We also detained 123 men, who were working as the ‘caretakers’ of the premises,” state police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said at a press conference Thursday.
He added that the state’s D6 unit has been tasked with “cleaning up” the state of such illegal activities.
SDCP Mohd Shukri said police also busted 226 illegal gambling joints with the arrests of 235 premise managers.
“We have also detained 17 players caught red-handed and seized 3,700 computers,” he said.
