KOTA BARU: The number of flood victims in Rantau Panjang dropped to 1,451 Wednesday morning compared with 1,968 Tuesday night.
According to the state government's official portal, the evacuees comprised 563 families who were now staying at nine relief centres.
Following good weather for the past three days, more victims were expected to return to their homes in stages.
The water level in Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang receded to 9.65m, which was still above the danger level of nine metres.
The alternative road to Jeli at Panglima Bayu has been reopened to traffic.
