KUALA TERENGGANU: Three construction workers were arrested to facilitate further investigation into the robbery-murder case involving a single mother in Marang on Tuesday.
Terengganu CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said two of them, aged 25 and 30, were nabbed near the victim's house at 4.30pm.
"Following interrogation, another man, aged 35, from Kampung Pengkalan Berangan, was arrested.
“His urine was also tested positive for drugs," he told reporters here on Wednesday.
On Tuesday the disabled single mother, Tengku Enong Tengku Muda, 68, was found dead in her bathroom in Kampung Baru Sungai Kerak, Marang.
Initial investigation found that the woman was strangled with rubber pipe and shoe lace, while all her jewellery and mobile phone were missing.
"We believe the suspects had used the shoe lace first to silence the victim before resorting to use the rubber pipe," he said, adding that public with information about the case were requested to contact the nearest police station to facilitate in the investigation. - Bernama
