The ATMs with smashed display panels in a bank in Menglembu, Ipoh.
IPOH: A 34-year-old man smashed seven automated teller machines at a self-service centre in a bank after his attempt to withdraw money failed.
Believed to be drunk, the suspect smashed the display panels of the machines at a bank in Menglembu here at about 10.10pm on Saturday, said Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong.
The man became agitated after his ATM card was “swallowed” by one of the machines.
“The suspect has been detained to assist in investigations,” he said, adding that a knife was found at the scene.
On a separate case, a patient fell to his death from the seventh floor of a building at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.
Richard Nilliah, 52, was found sprawled on the ground after the fall at about 7.30am Sunday.
ACP Sum confirmed the incident.
