Special needs girl drowns in abandoned fish pond

PASIR PUTEH: A special needs girl was found drowned in an abandoned fish pond in Kampung Changgai here last night.

Pasir Puteh OCPD DSP Mohd Kamal Zainal said on Monday, the body of Nur Azwa Alia Mohd Faizol, six, was found by her father, Mohd Faizol Samsudin, 29, at 2 pm floating in the pond about 100 metres from their home.

"He rushed Nur Azwa Alia to the Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh where it was confirmed that she had died," he told reporters.

He said Mohd Faizol realised at around noon that mentally-challenged Nur Azwa Alia was missing. The family searched for her around the house and found her in the pond.

When met at his home in Kampung Changgai, Mohd Faizol, a village hand, said it was usual for his daughter to play around the house.

Nur Azwa Alia was buried in the village cemetery last night. - Bernama
