The new Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong.
BATU PAHAT: Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong has been picked by the newly-elected Johor DAP state committee to replace Dr Boo Cheng Hau as state party chairman.
Liew thanked Dr Boo for his past contributions to the party and his effort in helping DAP and Pakatan Rakyat gain a foothold in Johor.
"The outcome of the polls will only unite the party even further. I will make sure that the party is ready to meet all challenges," he said, adding that he offered the deputy post to Dr Boo but he had declined.
Dr Boo, clearly emotional with the outcome, said that he believed Liew needed a free hand as the new leader in Johor.
"I will go back and have a good rest, but I will continue with my duties as Skudai assemblyman and Johor Opposition leader," he said.
