Three robbery suspects shot dead in Ulu Tiram

JOHOR BARU: Three suspects part of a robbery syndicate were shot dead in a face off with the police after one of the suspects whipped out his revolver and fired two shots at the uniformed men.

Johor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said that the suspects, believed to be foreigners in their thirties, were behaving suspiciously when policemen spotted them during a routine patrol in Ulu Tiram at around 4.45am on Saturday.

"When the policemen approached the suspects, they whipped out their weapons and threatened to harm the officers.

"One of them fired two shots at the three policemen on duty while the two others tried to use their parang, prompting the officers to react" he said in a press conference here Saturday.
