PETALING JAYA: PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli has lodged a police report against four bloggers who allegedly circulated an e-mail that accused him of discussing the placing of explosives in the city on New Year’s Eve.

The Pandan MP, who was hauled up by police over the matter, urged the police to investigate the bloggers and ascertain the origins and authenticity of the e-mails before investigating the person mentioned in the e-mail.

“One look at the e-mail shows it is pure fabrication but they (the police) still refused to rule me out as a suspect in a bomb plot,” he said before lodging the report at the Tropicana police station near the PKR headquarters in Merchant Square at around 11am yesterday.

The e-mail, first circulated by Umno bloggers and a Malay-language daily, is said to be written by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s associate Dr Abdul Rahim Ghouse and was titled “C for Chaos”.

In the e-mail, the writer allegedly claimed that minor explosives would be placed at the Sogo and Puduraya traffic junctions, the Masjid Negara KTM roundabout, Masjid Jamek LRT station and the Bank Negara Komuter station.

The e-mail then claimed a “social-media team” would record the chaos while steering the blame at Barisan Nasional.

Rafizi then announced a fake e-mail contest which invites the public to send fabricated e-mails to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and the Inspector-General of Police to test the police’s neutrality in investigating fake e-mails.

“The funniest e-mail will win RM1,000 from me,” he said.
