Flash floods in Rawang leave thousands of residents stranded

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of residents in Rawang, near here, were stranded due to flash floods early Tuesday, especially near the Aeon Rawang shopping centre.

According to a Rawang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, heavy rain early in the morning caused a river near the shopping complex to overflow, inundating the surrounding areas.

"It also caused a massive traffic jam from the direction of Jalan Batu Arang heading to Aeon Rawang," he said.

The floods affected those travelling to work or carrying out their daily businesses since 6am. - Bernama
