New MCA leaders get Twitter congrats

PETALING JAYA: Politicians took to Twitter to congratulate the newly elected MCA leaders, calling on them to continue their efforts to strengthen the party.

“May your leadership bring added value to the Barisan Nasional coalition,” said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jama¬≠luddin in congratulating Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong for clinching the top two posts during the party elections on Saturday.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan also tweeted to both leaders, urging them to continue the transformation of MCA and to strenthen Barisan.

“The political enemies are on the outside, not within,” he added.

Former Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui also congratulated the leaders on their success.

Liow, on his Twitter account, expressed his gratitude to all the well-wishers.

“I promise to give my all to make sure issues and concerns are fully addressed at the local and national levels,” he said.

Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said the selection of Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun as vice-president showed that MCA continued to provide opportunities for women at the party’s top leadership level.

“We are very proud of her accomplishment,” she said in a statement.

Shahrizat also congratulated newly elected Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie, saying that Heng had shown exceptional leadership qualities during her tenure as Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister.
