Ali Hamsa: A house for every eligible civil servant

PUTRAJAYA: There will be a house for every eligible civil servant who has applied for the 1Malaysia Civil Servants’ Housing Programme (PPA1M) in Putrajaya, said Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

The Chief Secretary to the Government said 10,500 eligible civil servants had bid for the 10,639 PPA1M housing units up for sale in the administrative capital.

The apartment units are expected to be completed in phases by 2018.

“The PPA1M target is to build 100,000 units of affordable homes for civil servants within the next five years. The project will be carried out in major cities,” Dr Ali said after launching the second balloting session for the PPA1M Putrajaya housing here yesterday.

At the event, 1,062 eligibile civil servants whose household income did not exceed RM8,000 per month, were picked to be the new owners of various units of Pangsapuri Seruling located in Precinct 5.

The apartment units, measuring between 1,000 square feet and 1,500 square feet, were priced between RM150,000 and RM300,000.

Dr Ali said the Government, had also promised it would study Cuepacs’ proposal to provide homes priced at RM90,000 per unit for civil servants who qualifed.
