JB council removes Zacharevic's bicycle from wall painting

JOHOR BARU: A bicycle mounted on the wall of a pre-war shop house in Jalan Pahang here as part of a drawing by artist Ernest Zacharevic has been removed by the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) enforcement team.

Five MBJB enforcement staff were seen dismantling the bicycle Friday, witnessed by several people who had come to take photographs of a Lego woman and a boy riding the bicycle on the wall.

The Star learnt that the bicycle has been sent to the MBJB store.

The owner of the building, who declined to be identified, said she supported the action taken by MBJB to remove the bicycle as the drawing was done without her permission.

"I hope they (MBJB) will repaint the wall after this," she said, adding that she did not want to be fined by MBJB for allowing the drawing on her property.
