PETALING JAYA: The top five contestants of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 20 rode the LRT to promote kindness and generosity among commuters.

The contestants – Chris Hernandez, Cory Hindorff, Jourdan Miller, Marvin Cortes and Renee Bhagwandeen – boarded the train at the Kelana Jaya LRT station at 10.20am yesterday.

As part of the Red FM Random Act Of Kindness initiative, the models went around complimenting commuters on their unique facial features and bold fashion choices before alighting at the KLCC station.

“There is so much negativity going on in the world right now. These kind gestures can make this world a better place,” said Bhagwandeen, 24.

Hindorff, 22, said he knew what it felt like to be picked on, so he believed that words of encouragement could uplift a person.

“Before I became a model, people used to criticise me for my big and crooked nose or my eyebrows being too sharp. But you have to believe in yourself,” he said.

Retiree Kenneth Cheong, 70, said he was initially shocked when the models approached him but then he appreciated the gesture.

“They told me they loved the shirt I wore,” said Cheong who was in a colourful, patterned shirt he bought while on holiday in Bali. “As a senior citizen, not many people would usually take notice of what I wear.”

Nine-year-old Aresha Reza, who was accompanied by her mother and sister, said she felt inspired after the encounter with the models.

“They said they liked my drawings. They were really nice,” said Aresha, who had a book filled with sketches in it.

Earlier, the models shared their experiences of being on the reality television show with Lil Kev on Red FM’s WTF show and Janice on Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast show.

The Red FM Random Act Of Kindness project is a monthly initiative organised by the radio station.
