Teen groom: Age is not a factor in marriage

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy who married a 16-year-old girl in Miri has vowed to be a good husband and father, reported Harian Metro.

Muhammad Haikal Farith Mohd Shah said his age was not a factor in determining whether he could bear the responsibility of being a husband and head of a household.

“Even though I am young, I will work hard at becoming the best husband and ensure that this marriage will last for the rest of my life.

“Some may not agree but we will prove that age is not a guarantee of happiness,” said the teenager, who gave a dowry of RM200 and wedding gifts worth RM5,000.

Muhammad Haikal said his father had asked for permission from the Syariah court for him to marry Nur Hazwani Mohd Kamal in view of their age.

> Cases of grave looting in Morsjaya in Miri are still rampant with items such as gold chains, watches and rings being stolen from coffins, reported Kosmo!.

The Sidang Injil Borneo cemetery was dug up by robbers on Sunday.

Resident Martin Lisin, 58, said the area was a constant target for grave robbers.

“Some paint factory workers discovered the incident when there was a foul odour coming from the cemetery. Residents who checked the area were shocked to find rotting corpses dug up with items and clothes strewn all over,” he said.

Miri OCPD Asst Comm Mun Kock Keong confirmed receiving reports on the incident.

> The Malay newspaper also reported that nine passengers on an express bus were injured after the vehicle flipped on its side when the driver swerved to avoid a pig.

There were 28 passengers aboard when the accident occurred near Kemaman at 3am on Saturday, said Kemaman OCPD Che Suza Che Hitam.

“The road was wet after the rain, causing the bus to slide before hitting a divider on the left. The bus then flipped to its side and landed on the road shoulder,” he said.

The bus had been en route to Johor Baru from Kota Baru.
