Actress ordered to pay father RM8,220 in dispute over family home

KUALA LUMPUR: A family feud between actress Wan Nor Azlin Wan Mohd Husain and her father over the family home in Taman Sri Keramat ended with the High Court ordering her to pay her father RM8220.

High Court judge Rosilah Yop ordered Wan Nor Azlin to pay Wan Mohd Husain Wan Ibrahim RM220 to cover the costs of removing a caveat by the daughter, which stopped her father from selling the house.

The court also dismissed Wan Nor Azlin’s counter suit against her father, and ordered her to pay him RM8000 in costs.

Wan Mohd Husain had sued his daughter over vacant possession of the terrace house, claiming she had stopped him from selling the house which both of them lived in.

He claimed Wan Nor Azlin never paid any bills nor settled any monthly rental during her stay, adding that he had informed Wan Nor Azlin in mid-2011 that he wanted to sell the house and that she had to vacate to facilitate a smooth transaction.

However, he said Wan Nor Azlin did not move out and claimed that she had an interest in the house as she had installed a kitchen cabinet and wardrobe.

Wan Nor Azlin had in turn counter-sued her father, demanding compensation for RM54,393.95 she had spent to renovate and improve the house, which included the kitchen cabinet and wardrobe.

Speaking to reporters here after meeting the judge in chambers, her lawyer Nur Aini Atiqah Abdul Aziz said she had not received instruction from her client to appeal any part of the decision.

Wan Nor Azlin, 45, won the Seri Angkasa Award for best drama actress for her role in Takbir Untuk Abdah in 2001 and has starred in more than 200 drama and theatre productions.
