PETALING JAYA: The Star Online continued to be the top news site in Malaysia, according to the United States-based comScore Inc, a global leader in digital measurement and analytics.
Malaysian Digital Association (MDA) and comScore, in a statement, said The Star Online attracted 969,000 unique visitors in October.
Overall, The Star Online ranked fifth among the top 30 local websites.
Malaysiakini came in sixth place (906,000), The Malaysian Insider was ranked 10th (663,000) and NST online ranked 22nd (384,000).
Harian Metro online, which ranked 15th, was the most popular Malay news site with 615,000 unique users, followed by Sinar Harian 17th (568,000) Utusan Malaysia 18th (551,000) and Berita Harian Online in 20th place (501,000).
MDA is the apex representative body for online publishers, advertising agencies and digital services providers in Malaysia, while comScore is a leading Internet technology company, which measures what people do as they navigate the digital world.
“Overall, The Star Online had increased its monthly unique visitors,” said the statement.
The report highlights how Malaysian Internet users consume online content and is not inclusive of international traffic.
Separately, Star Publication (M) Bhd ranked 20th among the top 30 web properties in Malaysia with 1.241 million unique visitors in October.
