BN in power because of Malays, says Bukit Mertajam Umno chief

KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno leader claimed Barisan Nasional's victory in the 13th general election was because of the Malays in the nation.

Bukit Mertajam chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir said Malays made up the majority and should be defended and given priority to come up in the nation.

Bukit Mertajam chairman, Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir.

"Parties like MIC and MCA work for their people and that is fine.

"However, when it comes to defending the rights of the Malays we in Umno are considered racists.

"Let's be practical, what do we get by considering the wellness of all the people other than being back stabbed?" he asked.

Musa added that the slogan 'Salam 1Malaysia" should be disregarded and followers of Umno should go by the slogan 'Salam 1Melayu'.

"It is best we look at the development of our own people as only then will this nation truly progress," he said.
