Runaway car gives Najib a jolt

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had a minor jolt when another car backed into his Proton Perdana.

City police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the incident occurred at around 9.50am yesterday at the Parliament.

“A visitor stopped at the guard house to get a pass to come in but forgot to put on the handbrake.

“The car began to move backward just as the Prime Minister(‘s car) was pulling into the Parliament grounds,” he told reporters at the city police headquarters.

He said the Volvo car hit the side of the Proton Perdana V6 limousine.

“Investigations revealed that the car owner was to meet with an MP when the accident occurred. No one was injured in the accident and the case is being investigated as a traffic accident,” he said.
