JOHOR BARU: Residents from five villages in Mersing and Segamat have been shifted to temporary flood relief centres following flash floods in the area.
Johor Security Council acting secretary Azura Mohd Kifli said that several relief centres have been opened for villagers from Kampung Air Tawar, Tenglu Besar, Kampung Semaloi, Kampung Air Papan in Mersing and Kampung Sungai Gatom in Labis, Segamat.
“The water levels along Sungai Muar have also exceeded the danger levels and is currently at 8.86metres,” she said when contacted.

“We are also keeping close tabs on areas in Johor Baru, Batu Pahat and Kluang and urge residents there to be prepared for floods,” she said.
She also added that the Mersing – Kota Tinggi road has been temporarily closed off to small vehicles due to floods.
