Former CID director Fauzi Shaari dies

PETALING JAYA: Former Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Shaari died Sunday. He was 63.

Mohd Fauzi passed away at 8.45pm at the intensive care unit of Selayang Hospital where he was admitted five days earlier for infection to his liver and kidneys.

His body was brought back to his house in Section 10 in Shah Alam. According to the police Facebook page, Mohd Fauzi would be buried at the Muslim cemetary in Section 21 on Monday.

Perak-born Mohd Fauzi retired on Sept 24, 2006, after 31 years in the force.

He served as the police chief of Sarawak and Selangor before his promotion as Federal CID director in 2005.

In 2012, Mohd Fauzi joined PAS and contested in the Larut parliamentary seat in the May general election. He lost to Datuk Hamzah Zainudin of Umno.
