Semporna kidnap: Cops concerned over hype surrounding Chang's kidnap

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian police are concerned over the hype surrounding the abduction of Taiwanese tourist Chang An Wei as they fear this could result in irrational demands for her release.

The concern came amid persistent talk of Chang’s abductors demanding ransom of more than RM10mil but Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said there had not been any communication between Malaysian officials and the gunmen who abducted Chang from the Pom Pom Island Resort in Semporna on Nov 15.
