Semporna kidnap: Victim requires regular medical supply

PETALING JAYA: The elder brother of 58-year-old Chang An Wei has prepared medicine for his sister who is said to be sick following her abduction at the Pom Pom Island resort in Sabah last Friday.

Richard Chang (or previously reported as Chang Da Gong), however, said he was still figuring out how to pass the medicine to his abducted sister.

"She has been having health problems all this while," he told CTi TV on Wednesday.

Richard is in Sabah with his brother-in-law Hsu Li Ren and their nephews to claim the body of Chang's husband Hsu Li Min and find out more about Chang's whereabouts.

Li Min was shot dead by a group of gunmen at a water villa at about 1am while Chang abducted by the group said to linked to Abu Sayyaf.

It is believed that Chang had been taken to one of the islands in Tawi Tawi in southern Philippines.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese Criminal Investigations Bureau director Lin De-hua said that they had sent two police officers to the Philippines on Monday to exchange intelligence with the Filipino police over the abduction case.

He said they had also contacted the Taiwanese Ministry of Justice on the matter and asked the Taipei prosecutor office to direct the investigation procedures.

According to Taiwanese media reports, the Taiwanese Foreign Affairs Ministry officials had also met with those from the Interior Ministry, the National Security Bureau and the Coast Guard to discuss about the mission to rescue the hostage.

"This is a murder and kidnapping case which transcends beyond the borders of three countries. Our utmost priority is to ensure the safe return of the hostage," Lin was quoted by Central News Agency as saying.

When asked about a possible ransom call that his bureau received, he said they would not reveal the details of the call and their investigations for the sake of Chang's safety.
