KOTA KINABALU: A grainy CCTV footage is the only link available for police to solve the mysterious murder of a Sarawakian couple at a seafood-packaging factory here.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said that a man was seen entering the premise prior to the murder in the Bundusan Commercial centre near Penampang factory early Friday.

“It is not a very clear footage and we are trying to identify the man recorded on the CCTV,” he said.

Hamza said they could not confirm the cause of the murder, but believed Chen Ching Woei, 42, and his wife Chang Ling Ling, 44, were bludgeoned with a sharp tool.

“We do not know whether the victims knew their attacker, or whether they have enemies,” he said.

Hamza said police saw no signs of forced entry into the room or signs of a robbery there.

Chen was found sprawled on his bed while Chang was lying facedown on the floor beside it.

Many of their workers were puzzled over the senseless killing of the couple whom they described as ‘good people’, and did not have any enemies.

The couple came to Sabah from Kuching two years ago to work as supervisors at the factory, and had stayed in a room there as they did not own a house here.
