YAN: There is no need for the Barisan Nasional machinery to dress like PAS to campaign in Sungai Limau, said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
Instead, he said the movement machinery was able to enter PAS strongholds despite dressing in blue.
"There was no truth in the allegation. There is no need for the Barisan machinery to dress like PAS members to campaign, so far we received good responses from locals even when dressed in Barisan's colours," he said after attending traditional games activities at SK Dulang here Saturday.
He was commenting on online reports that the Barisan machinery had opted to done 'jubah' and skull cap in a desperate move to enter PAS strongholds.
Khairy also warned the Barisan machinery to be alert of dirty tactics that might be used by PAS in the final days of the campaign including allegations of phantom voters.
He said it is common for the Opposition to try and create issues that would heat up the election campaign.
Khairy urged the Barisan machinery to not fall for the bait.
"Even the (allegations of) phantom voters during the general election were not proven. I hope that there would not be an incident where buses suspected to be carrying phantom voters are stopped in Sungai Limau," he said.
When asked on PAS’s plans to bring religious speaker Ustaz Azhar Idrus to hold talks on the last night of campaigning, Khairy said the talk was meant to campaign for PAS.
He said although Ustaz Azhar is a religious speaker, his ceramah would also include endorsements for PAS, and urged Sungai Limau residents to not be influenced by the ceramah.
