AN afternoon swim turned into a tragedy for six teenagers when one of them drowned, Harian Metro reported.
Mohd Ijjuddin Sanusi, 15, had reportedly learned to swim only recently and would normally stick to the shallow parts of the river.
His last words were: “Tolong, aku dah tak larat!” (Help, I can’t hold on any longer).
“We tried to rescue him but he had already disappeared from our sight,” said Mohd Riduan Abd Hamid, 17.
An eyewitness, who heard Ijjuddin’s cries for help, also deployed a boat in an attempt to save the teenager from drowning in Sungai Tengi in Tanjong Karang, Selangor.
Ijjuddin was said to have sustained muscle injuries from a football game a day earlier, and was believed to have experienced cramps during the incident.
> A young man who divorced his wife about three hours after exchanging marriage vows had refused to explain his action, said Harian Metro.
Instead, Azhar, 19, said he would shed light on the matter after the divorce case had wrapped up in court.
The couple made headlines when Azhar demanded a divorce from Sasha, 21, just hours after their wedding in Balik Pulau, Penang.
