KUALA LUMPUR: All operations by the security firm whose rogue guard shot dead a bank operations officer in a robbery in will now be deemed illegal.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the security firm, Kawalan Prima Sdn Bhd, would be hauled to court if it continued to provide security services.
"This morning, the safety and public order department secretary went to the firm's head office and its branches to ensure there were no more operations.
"The Ministry has classified any operations by them as illegal, and will take them to court if they disregard the order," he said at a press conference in Parliament lobby.
Dr Ahmad Zahid also noted that weapons used by guards at the firm were seized by the Ministry, and written or verbal notifications would be given to the firm's clients.
"They will be notified about the matter, and legal action can be taken against them too if they continue to use the firm's services," he said.
He added that the firm had previously breached rules three times by hiring illegal immigrants as security guards, some of which had criminal backgrounds.
