YAN: Chinese voters in Sungai Limau are urged not to be deceived by the DAP's 'Ubah' (change) slogan anymore as it has failed.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said the Chinese community was made a victim of the DAP's failure to change the federal government.

"People must realised that 'Ubah' has failed. For the past five years since 2008, DAP has misled the Chinese with lies and rumours that the Pakatan Rakyat will take over as the federal government.

"Now the future of the Chinese is affected," he said during a dinner with the Chinese community in Batu 17 here.

Kong stressed that a swing of Chinese votes back to Barisan Nasional will also change the negative perception Barisan leaders have of the community.

He said the swing of votes in Sungai Limau in the Nov 4 by-election could be a benchmark to gauge the nationwide support of Chinese voters for Barisan.

From the feedback of campaign workers, Kong said he was confident that the Chinese would support Barisan.

Wanita MCA vice-chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie said the Chinese votes here would affect the fate of the Chinese in Malaysia for the next five years.

Barisan candidate Dr Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim, who was at the dinner, said the Chinese have now supported Barisan.

"The Chinese are hardworking and if they expand their business, the Malays can also 'cari makan' (get a job)," he said to applause from the 300-strong crowd.

Present at the dinner were Jerai MP Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, Kedah MCA chief Chong Itt Chew and Gurun assemblyman Dr Leong Yong Kong.
