GEORGE TOWN: A guard caused a stir at a bank in Datuk Keramat here when he accidentally fired a shot from his pump gun on Wednesday.
Penang deputy police chief Datuk A. Thaiveegan said the 53-year-old man, a local was on duty behind a counter in the bank during the incident at about 11.30am.
He said the shot was fired towards the ground while no one was injured.
"We're investigating the case from all aspect and we'll also conduct a thorough check on the guard's background," he said at the scene here.
He added that the guard has been arrested for investigation under Section 39 of the Firearms Act.
