Ke$ha has thanked her fans for being understanding and for their kind messages.
PETALING JAYA: Fans of Ke$ha have been supportive of the international pop star despite her cancelled performance, which was to be held at Stadium Negara last Saturday.
Head of PR for Livescape Jason Kong, which had organised the concert, said the sentiment among fans surrounding news of the authorities’ decision to ban the 26-year-old performer’s concert had been positive.
“The fans have been really fantastic. They’ve been sending messages of love and support to Ke$ha, assuring her that they still love her.
Ke$ha has also acknowledged and thanked them for their kind messages,” he said.
The singer said on Twitter, “I love my Malaysian animals so so much. xx I tried animals.” The post has since been re-tweeted over 2,000 times.
Kong said the fans were more disappointed than angry over the cancellation.
“But they understand that things like that do happen,” he added.
He also said Livescape and the Foreign Artists’ Film Screening and Performance central agency (Puspal), an agency under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, had not met after the incident.
“We are focused on getting people their refunds right now. We just posted the refund details on our Facebook page,” he said.
Kong added that he would contact Puspal for a meeting with its officials sometime next week to discuss the reasons behind Puspal’s decision.
The singer is known for her provocative dressing, lewd lyrics and irreverent, troublemaker image.
However, according to a press statement from Livescape, the singer and her team had “agreed to modify the show to suit Malaysian culture and sensitivities, including having adjustments to her lyrics, wardrobe, and a setlist that was modified to specifically adhere to the guidelines set forth by the authorities.”
A Puspal official told The Star that only Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Siaraf could comment on the decision.
