Cop charged with raping woman from China, gang robbery

PETALING JAYA: A policeman was charged in a Sessions Court here with raping a woman from China and committing gang robbery on five women.

Const Mohamad Hafizan Ibrahim, 22, was accused of raping the 30-year-old woman at Emerald Pavilion Sdn Bhd in Jalan SS24/8, Taman Megah at about 1.10am on Sept 20. He claimed trial.

The charge provides a maximum of 20 years' jail and whipping, if convicted.

Judge Hayatul Akmal later granted bail at RM10,000.

In another Sessions Court, Mohamad Hafizan was jointly charged with Const Khairulnizam Dolah Kairi, 32, Zainulazli Zahari, 30, Mohd Irham Abdul Manan, 25, and Normazlina Kamardin, 34, with committing gang robbery.

They had used a .38 revolver when they allegedly robbed the rape victim and the other women - three from China and a 39-year-old Malaysian - of their belongings including RM1,000 cash and five handphones amounting to RM7,300.

They allegedly committed the offence at the same time and place.

Both courts fixed Nov 29 for the next mention. The five were unrepresented.
