KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had Gerakan members in stitches when he said that one’s libido may be affected if they consume too much sugar and subsequently suffer from diabetes.
According to Najib, diabetes can lead to a host of complications like blindness, kidney failure, and limbs that require amputation.
“Your libido may be affected, too. If Keng Yaik (former Gerakan president Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik) is here, he’ll put it in a colourful manner,” he said when opening the Gerakan’s 42nd National Delegates Conference 2013 yesterday.
“Too much sugar is bad for you, and I have also learnt to take tea without sugar,” said Najib, who added that the Government had abolished the sugar subsidy effective yesterday because market analysts said the subsidy was wasteful, while many people were suffering from diabetes.
