A college girl killed herself after her parents banned her from surfing social media sites on her smartphone, Tamil Nesan reported.
The incident in Mumbai took place on Wednesday night after the 17-year-old girl had an argument with her parents for using Facebook and chatting online for hours when she should be studying.
The paper said the girl then went to her room, wrote a note and hanged herself.
> Malaysia Nanban reported that women in a village in Tamil Nadu would have to move to another village to give birth at a clinic.
The paper said there was no hospital within reach and villagers say they cannot remember when the last baby was born in their area.
“Women are usually taken to the health clinic at Vadipatti which is located in another village. They then return about a month after delivery,” said Lakshmi, a resident at the village.
The paper said during emergencies, the pregnant women would be taken to the clinic in mini-trucks used to ferry agricultural products.
> Makkal Osai reported that a dentist in Chennai was puzzled when she received many text messages on her handphone bearing the words “Locked House”.
She said she had received about 30 messages with the same words, along with the addresses of people she did not know.
The mystery was solved when she received calls from strangers saying they were leaving on vacation and wanted their homes to be watched.
Apparently, the Chennai police had accidentally given her number to those who wanted to inform the police that their houses would be vacant for a period of time.
