The overturned trailer ahead of a trail of scrap metal it spilled when it turned over near the Subang Airport exit to the NKVE.
PETALING JAYA: A trailer carrying scrap metal caused a traffic snarl on the North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) after it overturned.
The Banting-bound trailer was on its way to a steel factory at about 9am yesterday when it developed a tyre puncture, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
It ploughed through a small construction site near the Subang airport exit before overturning.
“I felt a violent jerk and it started swerving, I couldn’t control it. It hit some concrete barricades and then toppled over,” said the driver who declined to be named.
Despite the ordeal, he said he was uninjured.
PLUS officials said the overturned trailer blocked off two-lanes of the highway but was eventually moved off the road an hour later.
Sawdust and soil had to be sprayed onto the road surface that was covered in fuel leaked from the engine.
“Fortunately, no one was working at the site when this happened. The trailer rammed through the concrete barriers and fuel gushed from its tank,” he said, adding that an additional lane was opened to ease congestion.
