KOTA KINABALU: Balloting at the Batu Sapi Umno division polls was temporarily halted following a scuffle between two candidates contesting the vice-chief’s post.
The incident occured after one of the vice-chief candidates was seen in an area restricted for members to cast their votes while balloting was in progress.
He was told by another vice-chief candidate to leave the area leading to an argument and scuffle.
Balloting was temporarily stopped as officials from Batu Sapi Umno stepped in to calm both men.
Over in Kota Belud, a brief power blackout at 6.20pm temporarily halted the counting of ballots there.
